Semi driver accused of driving drunk, causing fatal crash

Being accused of having been involved in a DUI accident can be a very serious matter. Major criminal charges can be brought against a person in connection to such an accusation. A person can face particularly serious charges if the alleged DUI accident resulted in a death. This can be seen in a DUI case that has recently arisen in one of Tennessee’s neighbors: Kentucky.

The case involves an accident that occurred last Thursday in Christian County, Kentucky. Reportedly, late that morning, a semi truck rear-ended a minivan. The truck was being driven by a 54-year-old man and the minivan was being driven by a 69-year-old man.

The 69-year-old man was killed in the accident.

The 54-year-old man has been accused of driving while under the influence in connection to the crash. According to the WPSD article which reported this story, the man faces multiple charges, including charges of DUI and murder. One wonders what this case’s ultimate result will be.

While this case is from Kentucky, it illustrates a point that is worth noting in our state. This point is that serious criminal charges can be brought against a person if he or she is accused of having caused a fatal car accident while intoxicated. If a person is found guilty of vehicular homicide or similar charges, he or she can receive major criminal punishments, such as a substantial prison sentence. Thus, if a person is accused of having caused a fatal DUI accident, having strong representation can be very important.
