Tennessee man charged with vehicular homicide after wife killed

Even though marriage vows often contain the promise that the coupe intends to remain together until one dies, the majority of these same couples likely do not dwell on the eventual death of the other. However, one man not only has to accept the loss of his wife, but he is also facing charges of vehicular homicide for allegedly causing her death. Tennessee police responded to the accident one recent Sunday morning.

The 46-year-old man was reportedly out with his 48-year-old wife prior to the fatal wreck. Police stated that the accident occurred shortly after midnight. The man was purportedly under the influence of intoxicating substances at the time of the wreck. As they were traveling along a local road, the husband apparently lost control of his vehicle.

The car hit an embankment and then struck some fencing. It then flipped over, and the woman was thrown from the car through the window on the passenger side. Police noted that while the driver was using a safety restraint, the wife was not likewise secured.

According to the Tennessee authorities, both parties had been drinking. The driver did suffer injuries from the accident, though the nature or the severity of them is unknown. He is now accused of vehicular homicide in the death of his wife, which is a serious allegation and may only increase the grief that he is experiencing after losing his spouse. He is guaranteed the presumption of innocence throughout the coming proceedings before the court. Clearly, the gravity of the circumstances mandates that he, along with his defense counsel, carefully prepare to defend himself as this case moves forward within the criminal justice system.
