Tennessee police arrest woman for drunk driving

A 28-year-old woman is facing several vehicular charges. She has been charged with violation of the due care law and drunk driving. The arrest came about after she had slammed her car into an official utility vehicle. The woman was held on a $2,000 bond in a Tennessee jail.

According to authorities, the accident occurred in the morning when the women was driving her Chevy pick-up truck. She was allegedly driving behind a Ford, a city utility vehicle, when the operator attempted to make a turn into a driveway. The woman hit the Ford from the back, causing a significant amount of damage to the vehicle as well as her Chevy. Authorities arrived on scene and determined that the woman was in several violations.

In addition to her drunk driving charge, she allegedly did not have insurance and may not have had a driver’s license. She was also charged with failure to exhibit a driver’s license and violation of the insurance law. Fortunately, the utility worker was not injured and the woman was released from the hospital into the hands of law enforcement.

The woman possibly faces an uphill battle in the courtroom. In addition to her drunk driving charge, she may possibly be held accountable in a Tennessee civil court. The utility worker or the company he works for, may be able to file a property damage claim against the woman. Since she does not have car insurance, the court may hold her liable to pay out of pocket for all of the damages.
