Tennessee school bus driver admits to drunk driving

When someone is arrested and charged with drunk driving, the first thing that’s important is to challenge the evidence if you believe you have been wrongly accused. There are many ways that this can be done. But for many people, they make mistakes and get caught. It’s important to know how to handle what comes next.

One Cocke County, Tennessee, woman likely wanted to put a regrettable episode behind her and move on with her life when she recently pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. The woman was allegedly drunk while operating a school bus, which was her job at the time.

According to her plea deal, the woman will spend two days in jail and will pay a $350 fine. The 39-year-old woman was also charged with an open container violation, but that was dismissed with a $50 fine. This was her first arrest.

According to reports, the woman was found sitting in the driver’s seat of the school bus, which was parked and running in a parking lot. She reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.09, which is just a bit higher than the legal limit of 0.08, according to a breath test. Luckily there were no children on the bus.

It is likely that this woman realizes that what she did was wrong. That is why she accepted responsibility by pleading guilty. In some cases, accepting a plea deal is preferable to trying to fight the charges when it seems the prosecution will have an easy time proving guilt. Of course, someone accused of drunk driving should always consult with an attorney before accepting a plea deal. It’s not smart to just take police and prosecutors at their word before admitting to anything.
