There is no need to wait to start a criminal defense

Not all arrests happen at the scene. Many happen after Knoxville police conduct an investigation. At that time, an individual may be sought if police believe he or she was involved in the crime. That person does not have to wait until an arrest to consider a criminal defense.

For instance, on the morning of Oct. 6, a man was killed outside a gas station. According to police, the 35-year-old man was last seen with two men. After “having words” with them, someone shot him in the back. That person then got into the passenger side of a vehicle that sped away.

Police in Nashville say they have the driver of that vehicle, a 20-year-old man, in custody. The other man, age 57, has yet to be located, but an arrest warrant has been issued, and police continue to search for him. Officials claim that members of the public identified the man in the surveillance video obtained by police. At this time, investigators have not been able to ascertain why the man was shot. In the meantime, there is a man out there accused of a heinous crime who may need some help.

Like anyone here in Knoxville, consulting with a criminal defense attorney may help. Having representation from the moment of walking into a police station can help ensure that an individual’s rights are protected. Police sometimes use unorthodox methods to obtain information. Having an attorney present for all questioning could prevent an accused person from inadvertently saying something that may end up becoming part of the alleged evidence used against him or her.
