Vehicular homicide and other charges follow deadly accident

A Tennessee driver is facing serious criminal charges after an accident claimed the life of one man riding on a motorcycle. The driver was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, public intoxication, driving under the influence and driving with no license or insurance. According to the report of the accident, the man originally fled the scene of the accident.

The deadly crash occurred as the driver was turning into a private driveway. The motorcycle, approaching from the opposite direction, was unable to stop and crashed into the passenger door of the car. The man on the motorcycle was declared dead at the scene of the accident, and Tennessee law enforcement officers originally thought that the motorcycle crash was a one-vehicle accident.

After leaving the scene of the accident, the driver was identified by a witness, who alerted the police. When located by police, the man was allegedly slurring his speech and showing other signs of possible intoxication. It is not clear if any sobriety tests were performed at the time, but the defendant would be wise to take immediate steps to protect his rights as he waits for his arraignment on these charges.

Despite the serious nature of the charges against him, the man is not precluded from having an attorney. With the help of a counselor experienced in DUI and criminal defense, he can effectively confront the vehicular homicide charge and other charges against him, seeking to protect his best interests throughout the entire legal process. The best defense plan for a defendant will depend on the individual circumstances of the case, making it important to seek a complete case evaluation as soon as possible.
