Vehicular homicide charge filed against Tennessee driver

A Tennessee man is facing serious legal trouble after a car accident claimed the life of another driver. Law enforcement alleges that drugs may have played a role in the crash, and the man has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide. The defendant turned himself into authorities after an arrest warrant was put out.

The defendant was driving along Blue Springs Parkway when he reportedly swerved into the lane of oncoming traffic, colliding with a van with three occupants. The driver of the van died at the scene of the accident, and the other two people sustained injuries in the crash. Once the defendant was taken into custody, drug and alcohol tests were run in order to determine if he was intoxicated at the time.

According to reports, the defendant has faced charges of drunk or intoxicated driving in the past. He was arrested in two previous incidents, one time after police noticed alleged erratic driving and the other after an accident. If he is convicted of the current vehicular homicide charge, he could face serious penalties that include jail time, fines and other consequences related to a criminal conviction.

At this time, the Tennessee man has not yet been convicted of any crimes. He has the right to a defense, and he is entitled to seek a reduction in charges or penalties. His rights also entitle him to a defense. When facing vehicular homicide charges related to drug use or other drunk driving charges, an experienced lawyer can ensure that the rights of the defendant are protected.
