Vehicular homicide charges follow Sunday evening accident

A Tennessee woman is facing serious criminal charges following a fatal accident. Injured during the event, she must now determine how to respond to those charges, even while recovering. The most serious charge she faces is vehicular homicide, which can carry significant punitive repercussions if a conviction is obtained.

The full details of the incident have yet to be reported. However, investigators believe that a collision took place at around 10:40 on a recent Sunday evening. A 32-year-old woman was traveling along the Newport highway in 1991 Mercedes sedan when her vehicle allegedly crossed the center line and struck a motorcyclist.

The man operating the Harley-Davidson motorcycle was a 45-year-old resident of Mosheim. He was unable to survive injuries suffered during the collision. The driver of the Mercedes also experienced injuries during the accident, although the nature and extent of those injuries was not included in a recent report. In addition to vehicular homicide, she has also been charged with driving on a suspended license. Citations were issued for driving on the wrong side of the road, having no proof of insurance and failure to exercise proper care.

As this case moves forward, the Tennessee driver will begin preparing her response to those serious charges. It is reported that a public defender has been appointed to her case, and her bond was set at $101,000. If she is unable to present a case that allows her to avoid conviction on the charge of vehicular homicide, she could end up spending a significant portion of time behind bars.
